Random Happenings With Me and Your Mama

This gallery contains 1 photos.

To say that the last seven or so months of my life have been somewhat interesting would be an understatement. Within that time I’ve lost both parents, gotten engaged, and toppled two third world governments. Yeah, I’ve been a little occupied with things and my thoughts are as random as ever. Sh*t Talkers — What Kind Are You?

This gallery contains 1 photos.

The other day on Twitter I had a conversation with Dr. Gemmie PhD about talking sh*t to folks about sports from a fan’s perspective. We tweeted about her premise, which was based on speaking feces because not only your squad totally destroyed theirs but because you dislike the utter essence of their team in every way possible. I’m not much of a verbal sh*t talker but I agreed with her about banging on teams that I flat-out just dislike and never pull for. (EVER!)

Reflection On Things

After most of the range of motion returned to my neck on Sunday I got into a decent phone conversation with my homeboy Mario. Due to the fact the both of us are two rather random dudes, our conversation covered a lot of different topics like how we thought Patrick Peterson was much better than Tyrann Mathieu, the Honey Badger, which potent potables we do and don’t partake in (No we weren’t day drinking or at least I wasn’t.), and the tenacity of a Marine recruiter who used to patrol the halls of Allendale-Fairfax high searching for future Teufel Hunden. We didn’t talk about anything heavy but after the conversation ended I was left with more than a few heavy thoughts.

Talking with your people is one of the most refreshing things a person can do. I’m pretty sure I’ve expressed this sentiment before but I should be repeated. There’s a certain clarity that comes from talking about where you’ve been with someone who has been there with you. Not always in lockstep but still around. Going through previous experiences with your people is a great way to let you know that you are on the right track in your life.

I don’t have any more thoughts but I had to say that… shouts to my people.

Vaya con Dios.

Please Come Home … (A Hard Eight For Christmas)

Christmas will be here in a few days and after that a new year. One of the best things about the holidays is that people tend to get over themselves. After the removal of sticks from rears en masse there is a list of good things that make folks happy this time of year. The time with friends and family is priceless. Then there’s the choice of eating yourself into oblivion. After that, I’m sure there’s some distilled “spirits” involved. One of my absolute favorite things about this time of year is the music. Christmas songs come in two forms: Awesome and horrifically bad.

Teams That I Would Never, Not For Nothing, Pull For

This gallery contains 2 photos.

Thanks to my sister, Dale I’m a pretty big sports fan. A bulk of my view about sports is based on what I learned from by watching her when I was a young warthog. For instance I am both an Oakland Raiders and UNC Tar Heel men’s basketball fan because that’s who she watched and pulled for. However, this little of post of mine isn’t about teams that I actually like. Continue reading

America Got A Thing For Death Sh*t…

Troy Davis, a Georgia man who was convicted of killing a police officer in Savannah in 1991, is scheduled to be executed at 7:00 pm tonight after various advocates have exhausted most of the legal attempts of calling off his death by the state of Georgia. Many of the witnesses in his trial are now and have been recanting their statements for some time and every effort for a new trial has also been exhausted. Continue reading

The Arbiters of Blackness and Other Things

This gallery contains 1 photos.

One of the things that I constantly notice while perusing the Internets is that people (myself included) are opinionated as hell. (Actually I noticed this a few years ago but I only decided to write about it the other day, so I’ll stick with that.) Americans are opinionated as hell, which is awesome but when it comes to certain topics you usually can guarantee the responses from the readers are going to be polarizing. This stems from a train of thought based on the idea that all opinions are fine… if they agree with mine. Continue reading

Fictional Characters Who Officially Ain’t Sh*t To Me

This gallery contains 1 photos.

A horribly kept secret about me is that I read a lot of fiction and watch a lot of television. I’m extra nerdy when it comes to characters and their specific behaviors. Overtime I’ve developed the horrible habit of breaking down fictional characters’ personalities and actions leading me to wonder why they do what they do on the page or the screen. Continue reading

Laughing, Thinking & Crying… Yeah, About That Last Thing.

“To me there are three things everyone should do every day. Number one is laugh. Number two – spend some time in thought. Number three, you should have your emotions move you to tears. If you laugh, think, and cry, … Continue reading

Everybody Loves The Sunshine

Initially, I wasn’t going to post anything today. By the time I got to work I was in a foul mood. I woke up restless, I was tired, and I had a few things on my mind that weren’t there when my eyes closed last night. My hesitancy stemmed from the fact that I was afraid anything I posted today would come off as overly aggressive and angry. Continue reading
