Mommy, Why does everybody have a bomb? (Prince comes to Chucktown)

This gallery contains 1 photos.

Soooooooooo, last night Miss Moneypenny (Along with what seemed like the rest of Charleston County) went to see Prince last night. After the announcement of the tour stop a few weeks ago I got excited about hearing that Prince was coming to town. That excitement soon waned when I saw the ticket prices. Yesterday morning, I get a text from the husband of my former co-worker saying “Call me!” Continue reading

Random News/Ain’t it Thoughts (Week of March 17th, 2011)

I know I’ve written way too much about basketball (But not really) this week so I’ll try to keep the basketball talk to a minimum. Besides the Fab 5, we have a major crisis in Japan, and every time I go outside I come back yellow more yellow than I originally was. I’ve only got nine things this week so this shouldn’t take much of your time. Continue reading

Grant, Jalen, and Jimmy (Three things one black man can call another that might not go over so well.)

This gallery contains 1 photos.

During Sunday night’s 30 for 30 documentary about Michigan’s Fab 5 Jalen Rose and his college teammates referred to Grant Hill as a “bitch”. Hill and his fellow black teammates were also referred to as “Uncle Toms” by Rose and his teammate Jimmy King. These comments were spoken via the words and thoughts of 19 year old men who are now on the verge of their fourth decade. Continue reading

The Things I’ve Said

“For me, Duke was personal. I hated Duke, and I hated everything I felt Duke stood for,” Rose said in the film. “Schools like Duke didn’t recruit players like me. I felt like they only recruited black players that were Uncle Toms.”

Tell ‘em how you really feel son!

This comment came out last week during the press run up to ESPN’s 30 for 30 documentary series chronicling the University of Michigan’s Fab 5.* I wasn’t a fan of the Fab 5 on the court.

Random News/Ain’t it Thoughts (Week of March 11th, 2011)

So I’m kind of getting back to put out subpar blog posts on the regular. I think this the first Random News type thing I’ve done in about a month. (I could be off seven or so days. Me not count well.) Hopefully, I’ll continue to meet your lowered expectations. Please know that this will be 99.9% Estevez free so I will not be winning here or there. Continue reading

No, We Don’t Need Fake Meat.

So the other day I was having a conversation with a friend of mine about the medical business/field.* He stressed the point that modern medicine isn’t focused on prevention but instead it focused on cures. Prevention of illness is an amazing thing. It puts one ahead of the curve when it comes to impending disease and medical conditions and let’s be honest, when your dealing with your health time is a key factor. Cures on the other hand can also mean increased profits for hospitals and drug companies. Continue reading

Frankly, It’s Comical… Pt. 1

This gallery contains 6 photos.

In my ongoing attempts to give varying content up on this here cloud every week I’m going to do a review of the comics that I purchased that week. I know the bulk of the Thirteen don’t give a damn but content is content and I need to write. (Hey, I could write about some bullsh*t-a** topic like interracial dating or something.) I’m going to shoot for every Thursday because new comics come out each Wednesday but the cookies don’t always get smashed that way. Continue reading

I’d Prefer Not To

Like I said last week, my writer’s block game is proper so I’ve been attempting to get the kinks out of my fingers and brain once again. I’ve got a few things that I’m currently writing about but I don’t have the blocks completely out of the way so they would suck even worse than this would if you read them right now. Continue reading
